Morning Routines – Why They Are So Important

Sharing is caring!

I love mornings…now.

It wasn’t always like that.  A few years ago I had a hard time getting up early, but once I started my business I knew that I wouldn’t have uninterrupted time during the day so I started working towards getting up earlier and earlier each day.

New Mornings Bring a Fresh Start

I love the fact that each new day brings new opportunities and it’s a chance to start fresh and do better.  I find that some days I just don’t have the focus that other days provide, so ending these days knowing that I have a fresh start the next day is always a plus in my book.

How you start your day, or more specifically how you spend those first few morning hours has a big impact on the rest of it.

Plan Your Morning Routine To Set The Tone Of Your Day

Have you ever woke up and from that moment on your day went almost perfect?  You got your work done, your housework done, your errands ran, and your exercise done.

Everything was in harmony.

Aren’t those days amazing?

If you think back what started this harmonious day?  The tone was set in the morning.  That’s why making over your morning is so important. It’s about much more than those first few hours.

Winging Your Morning Brings Chaos

Now think back to a day that didn’t go as planned.

I’m sure you’ve experienced something like this…

You set an early alarm to make sure you have time for exercise, meditation, or simply some much needed “me time”. You have every intention of getting up and doing whatever you’re setting out to do when you set the alarm in the first place.

You just can’t make yourself get up. You hit the snooze button multiple times, or turn the alarm off altogether and go back to sleep.

Think about how the rest of those days went.

Notice a Difference?

Did you notice a difference in how you felt? How much did you got done in the mornings when you kept hitting the snooze button? Were you able to do all the things you set out to do?

How did those days compare to the ones when you got up with your first alarm?

If I had to take a guess, I’d say that the mornings when you got up as soon as the alarm went off went a lot smoother – like the day I described in the first example.  If so, that means you accomplished what you have planned to do or at least most of it.

Chances are that sleeping through the snooze button didn’t just affect your morning, but the entire rest of your day. You set the tone for how your day is going to go first thing in the morning. That’s what the old saying about getting up on the wrong side of the bed is about.

Start The Day With a Positive Note

I don’t know about you, but I want to make sure that I’m getting up on the right side and start my day off in a positive and productive way.

I know that I’m not the only one because routine is so important.  When I recently talked at an in-person workshop most of the attendees (approximately 20) asked me to explain my morning routine to them.

I’ve learned from experience that if I get up and immediately start working without any Facebook stops – I get so much more work done because I’m on a mission to be productive.  I’ve got goals to keep and to do that I’ve got to get down to business.

Miracle Morning Can Help You Establish a Routine

Not sure how to make your morning the best it can be?  Hal Elrod has created an entire book series on this topic called The Miracle Morning.  He’s got them for Entrepreneurs, Real Estate Agents and Parents / Families.

On a side note about this – I love how he has taken one thing that he has had success with and repurposed it to fit different niches!  Talk about genius.

Here is a book (with my affiliate link) you can buy, as well as a journal that works with it:

Mornings Impact Your Day – Spend Time Creating What You Want That To Look & Feel Like

Making over your morning is an important thing to do and a good thing to work on because setting the tone of your morning is going to set the tone of the rest of your day.  By determining what you do in the morning – it will make the entire rest of your day go much smoother.

I’d love to hear about your mornings.  Do you have a routine?  If so, what is it?  Are you looking to change it to make it ever better?
